Our story

The dream was simple.

We were a small group of friends and neighbors in Comer, Ga. We loved our little town and wanted to make a place where folks could get together — for music or ice cream or a porch sit. A welcoming place where you could go and meet your neighbors. We wanted to build a community center.

In 2020 The Perch was born. We call it a community center, but really it’s just a nice place to gather, with plenty of green space and shady pecan trees. We run an after-school program here. We hold potlucks and pop-up health clinics. A Quaker meeting meets on the back porch on Sundays. The Perch has hosted weddings and funerals. The Perch is co-hosted Movers and Makers camp this summer.

PERCH — noun. A place where all birds may come to rest and sing their song.

At the Perch, we’re always asking: What’s next?

We’ve got a lot of hopes for the future. So keep an eye out for upcoming Perch events and projects…

Actually, the best way to keep up with Perch stuff is to join our mailing list, so send us a hello and ask for an update!
